The SeaStash home screen: a pool of real cash, this week's quest, and two wishes being saved for.

Start here

It begins with money you can actually hold.

The Pool is the real coins and notes in the piggy bank — nothing more. Pocket money goes in, sweets come out, and the app keeps an honest note of both. Every so often it asks a child to tip the jar out and count it, and if the numbers disagree it treats that as a friendly mystery rather than a telling-off.

The whole point

A wish becomes a creature you look after.

Saving for a LEGO set is abstract. Feeding the small octopus who is growing towards it is not. Every coin is flicked into the water and caught, the pet grows at a quarter, half, three-quarters and full — and when the wish is reached they swim off to live in the reef and the money comes back out to spend.

Feeding a sea baby: flick a coin into the water and the creature leaps to catch it.

The long game

The reef is what patience looks like.

Points earned by saving buy decorations and wild friends for a living reef — then a sunken wreck, a cave, a volcano, and one more nobody is told about until they get there. The water itself deepens through six shades as the total grows. It takes months, deliberately: the reward for saving slowly is a place that gets better slowly.

The reef, savings accounts, shell badges and the history of every coin in and out.
